Morro Do Ouro (Paracatu) Gold Mine

Encardio Rite, in collaboration with Terratek Ltd. Brazil, provided geotechnical instrumentation for the Morro Do Ouro Gold Mine (Paracatu Mine) trial embankment monitoring in Brazil. The project involved monitoring the strength behavior of the 10-meter high trial embankment built on silt gold mine tailings. Instruments such as piezometers, settlement plates, inclinometers, and profilers were installed to assess the tailings' strength and performance. The system provided essential insights into the dam's structural behavior, aiding future safety measures in Brazil.

Morro Do Ouro (Paracatu) Gold Mine

The project included monitoring of a 10 m high trial embankment built on silt gold mine tailings of Morro do Ouro Dam/mine (also known as Paracatu Mine), Brazil. The dam is the country’s largest tailings dam with a height of 120 m and a length of 4 km. Mine tailings were disposed of at the Morro do Ouro Dam. The trial aimed at investigating tailings strength behaviour, which field experience has already indicated to be better than predicted by in situ and laboratory tests.

The embankment foundation was instrumented with piezometers, settlement plates, profilers, and inclinometers, supplied through our Marketing Associate, Terratek Ltd. in Brazil
